CEIS Specialist
The Coordinated Early Intervening Specialist is a new position this year designed to provide direct instruction to students who are experiencing difficulties in the general education setting. The CEIS staff is highly trained to work with teachers, students and families in a coordinated effort to remediate specific weaknesses in reading. The specialists will manage the universal screening of all students in grades 1-3 and assemble this data for the Data Team. They will carefully progress monitor students who are most at risk to determine the effectiveness of the intervention that has been planned by the CEIS Intervention Team. If the intervention does not appear to be closing the achievement gap, a more intensive remediation will be designed. This process allows the student to go through tiers of instruction under the guidance of the CEIS and the grade level team of teachers and specialists. The CEIS will use research-based programs and strategies to coordinate a unique plan for each child’s success.
